REALITY CHECK

Many infections cause no symptoms—or symptoms that overlap with other conditions. Appearance alone cannot identify an infection. If you suspect a parasite, seek appropriate testing and guidance from a qualified healthcare professional. Explore the CDC DPDx reference library ↗

Metals.
Endotoxins.
Know the difference.

“Toxins” is a broad marketing word. Real exposures have specific sources, tests, and evidence-based treatments. Here’s what these two categories actually mean.

HM / 01

Heavy metals

Lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium can harm health depending on the chemical form, dose, route, and duration of exposure. Possible sources include old paint and dust, contaminated water or food, certain workplaces, and some imported products.

  • Testing: blood or urine testing chosen for the suspected metal and timing of exposure.
  • Treatment: remove the exposure source; prescription chelation is reserved for specific diagnosed cases.
  • Kit context: cilantro/chlorella and zeolite are marketed for binding or “detox” support, but they do not diagnose poisoning or replace medical treatment.

LPS / 02

Endotoxins

Endotoxins—often lipopolysaccharide, or LPS—are components of the outer membrane of certain Gram-negative bacteria. The intestinal barrier and liver normally help limit and clear gut-derived LPS.

  • Context matters: severe systemic endotoxin exposure is associated with serious infection; lower-level gut-barrier research is still evolving.
  • Testing: consumer “toxin” panels are not a substitute for a clinical evaluation.
  • Kit context: charcoal and other adsorbent-style products can bind some substances in the gut, but they are not established treatments for endotoxemia.

NO OTC CHELATION SHORTCUT

The FDA says there are no approved over-the-counter chelation products. Chelating drugs require a prescription and medical supervision because they carry meaningful risks.
